Yesterday, March 23rd, we gathered together not just as athletes, but as a community bound by gratitude, love, and respect, to honor the life of Coach Tim Smith, who passed away after his long battle from leukemia. This workout, a reflection of his legacy, was a tribute to the profound impact he had on all of us—both in and out of the gym.

For many of us, Tim was more than just our endurance coach. He was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding force who helped us push our limits and discover our strengths. His passion for fitness was matched only by his unwavering belief in the potential of every individual he worked with. Under his guidance, we learned not just how to lift heavier weights or run faster, but how to become better versions of ourselves—stronger, more resilient, and more compassionate.

When we heard of his passing, it was a blow to all of us. But rather than focusing on the sorrow, we chose to honor his memory through a workout that reflected his spirit—a workout that was tough, challenging, and full of heart, just like him.

The workout was designed to be both a physical challenge and an emotional release. It wasn’t about achieving the fastest time or the highest score; it was about coming together to honor a man who had given so much to help us grow.

The format of the workout was inspired by Tim’s favorite exercises—those that pushed us to our limits and required both mental and physical strength. We began with a mile run, a descending rep scheme of power cleans and wall balls, then finishing with another mile run. This was Tim’s kind of workout. From the first rep to the last, we pushed through in his memory.

During the workout, there was an unspoken bond between all of us. Everyone moved through the sweat, the fatigue, and the burn with a shared sense of purpose. We pushed harder because we knew that was what he would have wanted us to do, and we honored his memory with each drop of sweat and every ounce of energy.

What made the workout truly special was the sense of unity it created. For some, it was an opportunity to reflect on the lessons they’d learned from Tim; for others, it was a way to share a moment of collective grief. But above all, it was a celebration of a life well-lived.

As we finished the workout, there wasn’t a single person who didn’t feel the weight of the moment. But there was also a sense of pride. Pride in knowing that, through our sweat and effort, we were honoring the coach who had believed in us when we didn’t believe in ourselves.

While Tim is no longer physically with us, his spirit lives on in every rep we complete, every challenge we overcome, and every moment we push through the toughest days. We will carry his lessons with us—not just in the gym, but in our daily lives. His legacy will continue to inspire us to be better, to push harder, and to lift each other up.

This workout was just one small way to honor his memory. But as we reflect on the challenge we completed together, we know that we will keep pushing forward, just as he would have wanted us to. Every time we train, every time we face adversity, we’ll do it with his spirit in our hearts.

Tim, thank you. Your strength, dedication, and passion have left an indelible mark on us all. You will always be with us.

Have a great week.

We’ll see you in the gym!
