My husband and I are big believers in budgeting. Like Dave Ramsey always says, “A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” And it’s true — when you’re intentional with your money, it gives you peace, purpose, and control instead of stress, guilt, or confusion.
A budget isn’t about restriction — it’s about direction. It’s a plan that lets you decide ahead of time what matters most. Whether that’s paying off debt, saving for the future, or simply having a little extra margin each month, a budget gives you the freedom to choose how your money serves your goals instead of letting it disappear without a trace.
In our home, we’ve learned that budgeting isn’t just a “seasonal thing.” Every month, we set aside a little bit specifically for Christmas. It’s a simple habit, but by the time December rolls around, we’re ready — no stress, no guilt, and no need to swipe a credit card just to spread holiday cheer. It’s one of the best financial decisions we’ve ever made because it allows us to give joyfully and celebrate freely.
And this month, we’re taking that discipline one step further by joining in on No Spend November. It’s a great way to reset our habits, refocus on needs versus wants, and remind ourselves that true freedom isn’t found in buying more — it’s found in contentment and stewardship. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. Each intentional choice builds confidence and clarity heading into the holiday season.
The truth is, Christmas can sneak up on us financially. Between gifts, travel, decorations, and all the little extras, it’s easy to let “holiday cheer” turn into “holiday debt.” But budgeting now — before the spending begins — helps protect both your wallet and your peace of mind.
When you tell your money where to go during the holidays, you can:
• Give with joy instead of guilt. You can bless others without dreading the credit card bill come January.
• Avoid impulse spending. Having a plan helps you say “no” to the things that don’t align with your values.
• Keep your focus on what matters. Christmas isn’t about stuff — it’s about celebrating the gift we’ve already received through Jesus.
At our gym, one of our core values is freedom — and that applies far beyond fitness. We believe in helping people find freedom physically, spiritually, and even financially. Living on a budget (and practicing things like No Spend November!) is part of that. It’s about stewardship, discipline, and the ability to live with purpose instead of pressure.
Money is a tool — one that can build stress or build blessings depending on how we use it. So let’s use it wisely, with purpose, and with hearts focused on what truly matters this season.
Let’s make this a season of freedom — physically, spiritually, and financially.
We’ll see you in the gym!
Have a great week!
