I visited my dad this weekend and the route it took me led me down a winding road of my past. So many memories popped up as I drove down a road I lived off of many moons ago.

Memories I wished I could change. That I hadn’t lived through. Choices I made that make me face palm myself now.

It really made me reflect on my life and where I’m at now. And would I still be who I am now, where I’m at in life now, had I changed any of those things in my past?

The short answer is probably not.

While there are certainly things I wish I could change, I know they all formed who I am, taught me lessons I definitely needed, and helped me experience life, the good, the bad and the ugly.

We all think things like, “If only I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t have done X or I would’ve changed Y.” But that’s the point. We didn’t know those things then. But that experience, or those experiences, helped us to learn what we needed to know.

They helped us make better choices the next time (or at least I hope they did!).

All of those things, all of those experiences, helped form who we are. Helped us with the choices we made moving forward. And hopefully helped you become the best version of you.

So yes, I went down memory lane this weekend, and had so many thoughts and memories pop up that I haven’t thought of in years. So many memories I wish I could erase, that I hadn’t experienced, but then my life wouldn’t be MY life.

And I’m thankful for my life. I’m thankful for the experiences I’ve lived. I’m thankful for all I’ve learned over the years. And yes, I’m even thankful for those bad memories. I’m ESPECIALLY thankful I’m not stuck living in those bad memories!!

So remember. There may be things you wish you could change… but they helped form who you are. And I pray they’ve helped you learn and grow into the best version of you!

Have a phenomenal week!
