Hey y’all! We wanted to re-introduce ourselves. We’ve had a lot of changes since becoming owners in 2020, so we wanted to keep y’all in the know!
Nick started Crossfit in 2014 and became more consistent in 2015, when he decided he’d had enough. He couldn’t keep up with his infant son, who was running circles around him! He could barely get up and down off the ground to play with him and he knew he had to make some changes. Not only did he start CrossFit, but he changed his nutrition and made amazing changes in his appearance and mindset.
I also started CrossFit in 2014 after injuring myself in a Tough Mudder. I tore my ACL and meniscus and post-recovery, what I had previously been doing was no longer working. And once I started CrossFit, I never looked back. It’s been a huge blessing in my life and has brought me so many friends and family and of course, my husband.
Nick and I didn’t meet until 2018, but of course, it was at a CrossFit competition. He was a competitor and I was the head judge. And no, I never judged him, although I made sure to check in on him several times during the day. I’m so glad he reached out to me the following day, because the rest, as they say, is history.
We didn’t date very long before realizing we wanted to spend our lives together. So much so that we got married December 30, 2018. We then started pursuing our goals of one day owning a gym and running our own business.
When the opportunity to buy CrossFit Chesapeake landed in our laps, we felt blessed. We bought the gym in October 2020 knowing we were also trying to have a baby at the same time. By November/December of the same year, we had decided to put trying for a baby on hold. Lo and behold, we got pregnant in December 2020 and poof! Before we knew it, we were growing a new to us business and our rainbow baby.
It was an interesting experience working on growing the gym while pregnant. It became even more interesting once our son was born. It truly is like having two babies at one time. In essence, we have a 1.5 year old and an 8 month old. I feel like I’m forever running between the two!
But I wouldn’t change a thing. Life has been busy, but Nick and I are truly blessed. We also have a 7 year old son, Malachi, who is an amazing big brother to Gabriel. Family life is definitely our priority, but we put a lot into CFC, as well.
Family is one of our core values too. We have four that are important to us and in how we run CFC. Freedom, Family, Faith, and Fun. And we’re working to achieve all of that in our daily lives and in our business.
We also value workouts and try to ensure we both get our training in throughout the week. We know it’s important to stay fit, to practice what we preach, and to keep our training up to date and relevant. We want to be our best selves for our children, but also for our members at the gym.
We’re both open books so any questions you have, please feel free to ask us. We love to help others on their fitness and health journey, so let us know how we can help. We’d love to be a part of your journey!
Have a beautiful week!
