These past several days were full of Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, and multiple days of celebrating our 8 year old. To say we indulged in all of the goodies would be an understatement.
But now we are ready to be back on our nutrition. Ready to feel good again. Ready for our joints to no longer ache. Ready to not be gassy or have upset tummies.
For you see, when we indulge (or overindulge), our bodies tell us. We just have to listen.
We knew going into the holiday weekend that we were going to enjoy ourselves. We don’t live such a strict lifestyle that we aren’t going to allow ourselves to enjoy the yummy holiday food and treats.
But we also knew that we’d suffer the consequences, so to speak.
And now that the weekend is over, we are right back on our normal daily routine. Detoxing the sugars and inputting the healthy.
We know there has to be some sort of moderation in what we do. Whether that’s our every day life or the holidays or a friend or family get together. We don’t like to be so strict that it inhibits our fun and enjoyment.
I used to be that way. I was so strict with everything that I ate and drank. And I was miserable. And I’m pretty sure I made everyone around me miserable. “I can’t have that.” “Does that have X, Y, or Z in it?”
I’m still like that with a few things because I have allergies and reactions to some things, but I like to actually live (and love) my life. I don’t want to be so tied down to one certain way of eating or doing things that it makes me unhappy and neurotic.
Do I limit my sugar and carb intake? Yes, for the most part. But do I also love this time of year and anything peppermint chocolate? Also, yes. But I know I can’t, or shouldn’t, go overboard with it. And if I do, I pay for it. I definitely feel sick to my stomach when I have too much!
So enjoy life. Don’t be so hard on yourself when you have the yummy treats. Just don’t overdo it. Don’t make it a daily habit. It should be an occasional treat.
And for goodness sake, don’t inhale it!! Enjoy it as you’re eating it!!
Take everything in moderation, my friends. Eat healthy for you, stay consistent with it, and enjoy the occasional treat with friends and family. And then get right back to it!
I hope you had a beautiful Thanksgiving. I hope you enjoyed all the yummy treats! And now I hope you’re getting right back to it!
Let us know if we can help. That’s what we’re here for!
Have a great week!
