One of my goals this year was to read more… not just for pleasure, but to learn, to grow, to continue expanding my knowledge and understanding. I also wanted to read the Bible and start a Bible study, start and focus on our Re:generation leadership training, and focus on our business.
Whew. I’m tired just reading that.
It overwhelms me when I look at it and think about doing it all at once. Because, let’s be real… there is no way I could have possibly done all that at once.
And normally, when I get overwhelmed, I just freeze and do nothing. Analysis paralysis. I wouldn’t know where to begin or what to look at or focus on.
But I did things different this year. I knew I had to if I wanted to make the changes I want to make.
Now… don’t get me wrong. Some of it was out of my control (imagine that!). Our Re:gen program is on a set day and time so that’s a non-negotiable. And it helps that we have daily homework that has to be done. That keeps me organized and on track there. I added on a Bible study that I could do daily with the homework, which also helps keep me on track with reading my Bible.
And then, easy enough, I decided to add reading 10 pages a day to that list. It’s all part of my to do list. Re:gen homework. Seamless Bible study. Read 10 pages. All first thing in the morning when I wake up.
I’m proud to say I am on my fourth book of the year. Which is more than I read last year, but hey – it’s an improvement! I started with a leadership book that has been on my bookshelf for far longer than I care to admit. Then a parenting book on how to raise positive kids in a negative world (that was a heavy one).
And because I’m at that point in my life, I read a book about how to use essential oils to help with my hormonal issues. I’m definitely one to use as many natural things as I can so I loved that book.
And now I’m reading The Let Them Theory. My mom recommended it and I can’t put it down. I’ve found myself reading more than 10 pages a day, because it’s something I feel I’ve needed for a long time. I worry too much about others and let people, situations, etc. get under my skin. So I’m learning to “Let them,” then Let ME. Time to let go of that need to CONTROL!
Huh – you catching on to a theme here?
Regarding our business, the gym, coaching, nutrition, all of it… we had a mentorship opportunity fall into our lap that literally helped guide us exactly where we needed to go. It has helped take things off my plate, which frees up time for me to focus on other areas that had been put on the back burner.
This has also opened up the door for others to come in to our business and lives that enhance exactly what we’re trying to do.
The past couple years have been incredibly difficult for us. So many unexpected things have happened, and just when we thought we’d be going in one direction, POOF! We’re sent another way.
This year has truly been a year of letting go and letting God. We’ve had to put all of our trust in Him, in our business and our personal lives. And it’s all worked out exactly as it’s supposed to.
I know we aren’t where we want to be, not yet. But we’re on our way. We have checklists. We’re working on a plan. And we have an amazing team that we’re building and working with.
I’m excited to continue moving forward. To see what book is next (any recommendations)? I’m pretty sure I have a ton on my bookshelf. So we’ll get through this book and then on to number 5.
Here’s to continued growth and success in all areas of my life.
What were your goals for this year? And where are you currently with them?
Have a great week.
We’ll see you in the gym!
