What do you do when you’re faced with adversity? How do you react? How long do you stay down and out?
These are the kinds of questions we rarely ask ourselves until life throws us into the fire. The kind of adversity that knocks the wind out of you—unexpected loss, disappointment, failure, injury, heartbreak. It hits hard. And suddenly, you’re left staring at the pieces, wondering how (or if) you’re going to rebuild.
But here’s the thing: adversity doesn’t get the final say. God does.
Scripture reminds us again and again—“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
You don’t have to fight alone. You’re not meant to. There’s strength in your spirit not because you’re invincible, but because the One who walks with you is.
The same way you train your body under resistance, life trains your spirit through struggle. In the gym, the weight isn’t the problem—it’s the pathway. You get stronger by pressing through the hard stuff. Faith works the same way. It’s built, rep by rep, in seasons where giving up would be easier, but trusting God becomes your lifeline.
You don’t have to bounce back overnight. It’s okay if you sit in the pain for a while. But don’t unpack and live there. Don’t let the setback become your identity.
Start moving. Even if it’s just one faithful step. One prayer. One walk. One rep.
Every time you get up—wobbly, tearful, unsure—you’re showing the enemy he didn’t win. You’re showing yourself that God is still writing your story.
So wherever you are right now, take heart. The same way your muscles grow under pressure, your spirit grows under trial. You’re not broken—you’re being built.
This week is bring-a-friend week at CFC, and if you’ve been carrying something heavy—physically or spiritually—this is your sign to show up. Let someone walk beside you.

You’re not alone in this. Let’s rise together.
We’ll see you in the gym!
