...

There’s a hole in our back fence. Buried under the shrubbery, out of our eyesight, but darn if our dog hasn’t found it and decided to use it as his private exit. And then thankfully used it again as his entrance.

Good grief, dogs are pains. But we love them. Even when they cause us to pull our hair out, frantically throw our shoes on and try to find them as we try to keep our toddler tamed (ha!).

This has happened a few times to me but it was our front gate that was open. But this weekend? Well – he found that little hole and off he went. Thankfully our backyard runs along a ditch and not a road, and thankfully, we have great neighbors who let us know he was out.

And as we threw shoes on, walked down our street to the end of the ditch, we see his little curly tail making his way back into our yard (cue eye roll).

Nick walked along the back of our fence line but he can’t see where Sabre is getting out because it’s so overgrown. So that’s fun.

And I’m almost positive this weekend isn’t the first time he’s done this. Because there have been a couple times over the last week or so where we haven’t been able to hear him in the backyard. No movement, no sound, nothing.

Fixing the fence is now another thing added to our already very long list. And with that, cutting back all the shrubbery and honestly, probably replacing the very rusted fence.

Whew. It’s always something, isn’t it?

And that, my friends, is the story of life. It is literally always something.

Good, bad, or otherwise, there’s always something going on. Needing fixed. Or replaced. Or cleaned. Or bought. Or insert any other word here.

And sometimes, this can get super overwhelming. And sometimes, it feels like there’s no end in sight.

But no matter how it seems, how hard it gets, how many times your dog gets out (and comes back), things seem to work out the way they’re supposed to. You make it happen. One day, sometimes even one moment at a time.

Because in the end, I like to look back at the craziness of my life and realize that my track record of making it through the tough times is 100%. Even when it’s not fun.

So here’s to making it through, one day, one moment at a time. Good, bad, or otherwise.

Have an amazing week. And make sure to give yourself grace, and take very much needed breaks! It’s not only allowed, but it’s necessary!

And I’m right there with you! We ALL need this reminder.

With love and grace,

Whitney
