It’s that spooky time of year! And no, I don’t mean Halloween. I mean a time of change and all that comes with it. The unknown, the wondering if it’s all going to work out the way you hope.
We recently moved our office upstairs at the gym, and I’ve allowed my anxieties to creep in over it—the kind that steal your sleep and have you lying in bed at night wondering if you’re doing the right thing.
But the thing is… change is necessary. And it’s always going to happen. Nothing ever stays the same. One of my favorite quotes says, “Nothing changes if nothing changes.”
The hard part is, change doesn’t always feel exciting in the moment. Sometimes it feels heavy. Messy. Uncomfortable. Even when you know it’s for the best, it can stir up doubts and “what ifs” that make you want to run back to what’s familiar.
But here’s what I’ve learned—both in life and in fitness: the greatest growth happens just beyond our comfort zone. You can’t build stronger muscles without resistance, and you can’t build stronger faith without trust. Growth requires tension. It asks us to step into the unknown, even when the path isn’t fully clear.
Every time I take on something new at the gym—whether it’s adjusting a program, trying a different layout, or launching a new class—I feel that same mix of excitement and fear. What if it doesn’t work? What if people don’t like it? But then I remember the truth I see every day in our workouts: progress comes from movement. Even small, shaky steps forward are still steps in the right direction.
And faith works the same way. God doesn’t promise us an easy path, but He does promise to be with us through it. Sometimes He allows seasons of change not to break us, but to build something new within us—something that couldn’t grow if we stayed where we were.
So whether your “spooky season” looks like a new job, a shift in routine, or simply learning to let go of what’s comfortable, take heart. Change isn’t something to fear—it’s a sign that you’re moving, growing, and becoming who you’re meant to be.
Lean into the stretch. Embrace the discomfort. Trust that the work happening now—seen and unseen—is preparing you for what’s next.
Because nothing changes if nothing changes.
We’ll see you in the gym!
Have a great week!
