Lately, I’ve been noticing a pattern. I’ve gotten into the habit of just existing. I finish work, take care of the house, check off the to-do list… and then I crash. And not in a restful, fulfilling way — more like a numbed-out, disconnected kind of stillness. The kind where you’re technically resting but your soul still feels tired.
This pattern of wake up, work, clean, cook, sleep. Repeat. It feels safe, it feels predictable — but it doesn’t feel alive.
And here’s the funny thing: when I do break the routine, when I say yes to something social, spontaneous, or soul-filling — I almost always end up loving it. I come home energized. Grateful. Reminded of how much life there is to live.
So why do I keep defaulting to “stay in?”
Not because I don’t enjoy going out… but because routine is louder than desire sometimes. Comfort becomes a habit, even when it costs us joy.
But we weren’t made to just survive.
We were created to live. To laugh. To take risks. To build relationships. To chase sunsets. To move.
I think about how in fitness, we talk about intentional movement — how just getting started changes everything. And I think it applies here, too. Life won’t feel full until I start choosing it on purpose.
So here’s what I’m committing to:
• Say yes to more things that bring me joy — even if my routine resists it.
• Prioritize living, not just managing life.
• Let go of the pull toward autopilot and lean into presence.
• Remind myself that God didn’t call me to just keep up — He called me to live fully.
John 10:10 says, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Abundant doesn’t look like overbooked. It looks like intentional, vibrant, connected, soul-filling moments.
If you’ve been feeling stuck in the same cycle… I see you. But let’s not stay there. Let’s break the routine and start living — boldly, joyfully, one intentional yes at a time.
Have a great week! We’ll see you in the gym (and maybe out of it too!).
